Yvonne van Vlerken, a rising star in the Dutch triathlon and duathlon scene, has won the European duathlon title in the Dutch town Horst aan de Maas. The powerful 27-year-old athlete ruled the race after she got on the bike, her favorite part of the competition.

The big surprise didn't come from Eastern Europe athletes like Drybulska or Afonjoeskina, but from Yvonne van Vlerken (25) running for the Netherlands. Yvonne once ran half a marathon (21km) in 1,20,52, but drew big attention to her performance in the biathlon.
